Ongoing study in Chhattisgarh

Our work on health and Gender Based Violence with community based organizations and networks through workshops and consultations have emphasized the need for systematic and consistent engagement; thus enabling spaces and opportunities for wider mobilization for advocacy as well as for creation of local resources to initiate and streamline health care response to violence survivors. Specifically, interested organizations, networks have expressed interest in leading and coordinating initiatives in their respective areas and states with Sama’s support. Currently Sama has expanded this initiative to Chhattisgarh and is working with local organizations. The initiative in Chhattisgarh is primarily implemented in Raipur and Koriya district to explore strategies for these extremely varied urban and rural contexts. It is also expected to provide insight on decentralized health system responses to GBV.

  • Situational assessments and analysis of existing health system responses to sexual violence and domestic violence has been carried out in Chhattisgarh and is currently being analysed.
  • Dissemination of the assessment findings and engagements at the policy and community levels are currently being implemented.
  • Sama’s initiatives in the states – in Delhi and in Chhattisgarh – are located at diverse levels of engagement and progress.
