Advocacy – both public as well as policy advocacy – are crucial strategies towards building collective perspectives as well as sustaining action on a range of issues and influencing changes in policy and praxis. Sama’s advocacy initiatives, including those as part of other networks and coalitions, have involved activists, organizations, networks from nearly all the states in India and also from more than fifteen countries across the world.
Policy monitoring and advocacy is an ongoing process involving dialogues with state actors / policy planners.
Sama endorses initiatives and attempts to effectively use the spaces provided by the State and affiliated autonomous institutions, which are pro-people, pro-women, and pro-poor, and have a wide outreach. Sama believes in critically engaging with policy to bring a gender and public health lens to bear on the concerns and rights of women and their communities.
