Campaign around Bioethics ...
Sama believes that bioethics form an important basis for monitoring, creating pressure and to evolve ethical guidelines for critical areas of medical practice such as Assisted Reproductive Technologies, cost of health care, equity in access to drugs, etc.
Sama is a member of the organizing committee of the National Bioethics Conference (NBC), an initiative of the Indian Journal of Medical Ethics to establish broad, independent, participatory platform for ethics.
At the first conference, Sama organized a workshop on ‘Perspectives in feminist bioethics on new reproductive and genetic technologies’.
During the second conference, Sama conducted a workshop on ‘New’ Reproductive and Genetic Technologies, Ethics and Women, that explored the ethical dilemmas in this respect. Both the workshops were well attended and generated fruitful debate and discussion.
